Academy I and II

The Boston GuitarFest 2021 Academy program is designed for young adults.  It offers a unique educational experience and exposure to a large international community of guitar professionals and aficionados.  

Academy I serves ages 16-21; Academy II, ages 22-30. The program offers individual lessons*, technique classes, workshops, masterclasses, and online performance opportunities as well as a competition for those participating in the Academy I program.

Coordinated by NEC faculty member, Jerome Mouffe, the 2021 Gfest Academy program will continue and expand upon the highly successful all online format premiered at Gfest online 2020. 

Participants will receive instruction and dialogue with the superb and varied Gfest 2021 faculty and guest artists including:
• World renowned maestra Marin Alsop  
• Eminent cellist Yehuda Hanani 
• Guitar virtuosos and master teachers Marco TamayoAntigoni GoniBruce HolzmanRichard SavinoDavid TanenbaumScott Tennant, and Federico Diaz
• GFest directors, Eliot Fisk and Zaira Meneses

The Academies Online

Academy participants receive masterclasses (after passing video audition), lessons, seminars and workshops on a variety of topics, as well as evening live online recitals.

Participants in Academy I can also sign up at no additional cost for an online competition exclusive to the program (only active participants in “Academy I” are allowed to participate in the competition). Please see the competition guidelines for more information.

Participants Receive:

*In special cases, younger participants may be accepted in the program. If interested, please inquire.
**Lesson placement based on preference, faculty availability, and audition videos.
***Active masterclass participants will be selected based on their audition video, however, everyone is welcome to attend the masterclasses

Participants who wish to take part in the masterclasses could submit their videos (Youtube or Dropbox links) to the email below for audition.
